SALEM: The divisional railway manager (DRM) of Salem division A Gautam Srinivas stated that express trains that were introduced after lockdown will operate as usual.
"Adequate train services are being operated to various destinations and hence there’s no need to panic,” he assured passengers.
The DRM mentioned about a video, that recently went viral on social media, showing large number of people at railway stations due to train cancellations. He clarified that it was a manipulated video clipping.
He said, "There are adequate trains and tickets available in all the railway stations."
Talking about creating awareness about Covid-19 precautionary measures, he said, "The department has been creating awareness among railway employees and passengers. Posters have been erected and audio-visual announcements are being made regarding the norms to be followed at railway stations."
He added that railway staff were being administered the Covid vaccinations.
"Frontline staff including reservation clerks, TTEs, who come into direct contact with passengers were being administered the vaccine on priority basis,” the DRM added.
Additional divisional railway manager A Annadurai, senior divisional commercial manager E Harikrishnan, senior divisional operations manager M Boopathiraja were present along with the DRM during the meet.
