Indian supply hit, Nepal turns to Chinese vaccine

NEW DELHI: Faced with a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines, Nepal on Friday requested India to facilitate early supply of vaccine doses. With vaccine supplies from India drying up, Nepal restarted its vaccination programme with Chinese vaccines even though they are yet to be approved by the WHO.
Foreign minister S Jaishankar and his counterpart Pradeep Gyawali held a telephone conversation on Friday to discuss the Covid-19 situation. According to Nepal, the two sides exchanged views on intensifying efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jaishankar assured Gyawali of continued support to Nepal in its fight against Covid. Gyawali requested the MEA to facilitate supply of vaccines to Nepal to continue administering the second dose of vaccination for people at highest risk. TNN
