Lokayukta Order : Jaleel will not resign from Cabinet : Minister

Palakkad, April 10 (UNI) Kerala Law Minister A K Balan on Saturday clarified that Higher Education Minister K T Jeleel will not resign from the Cabinet after Lokayukta found the latter of abusing power and resorted to nepotism.
A division bench of Kerala Lokayukta on Friday found the Minister of misuse of power besides directing the Chief Minister to remove Mr Jaleel from the Cabinet.
Talking to media, on behalf of the Chief Minister, who is undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at Kozhikide Medical College Hospital, the Law Minister said there was no reason why the Minister should resign based on the verdict of the Lokayukta.
The Lokayukta had also found that Mr Jaleel had violated the oath of office as Minister. The appointment of Jaleel's cousin in a PSU, violating norms, lead to this charge.
The division bench comprises Justice Cyriac Joseph and Upa Lok Ayukta Justice Harun-Ul-Rashid had found that Mr Jaleel has abused power and resorted to nepotism.
Earlier, Jaleel through a post in his FaceBook page had said he will approach the High Court to set aside the the Lokayukta order.
