Damage from phishing, spoofing rises to EUR 39.5 mln in 2020 - Dutch Payments Association

The total damage from phishing and telephone spoofing in Dutch payment traffic amounted to EUR 39.5 million in 2020, including EUR 12.8 million from phishing and EUR 26.7 million from number spoofing, according to the Dutch Payments Association. In 2019, the damage from phishing alone was at EUR 7.9 million; telephone spoofing, also known as bank helpdesk lighting, was not yet a phenomenon.
