IPL 2021: RCB’s Harshal Patel says,’ I have worked a lot on my yorker’ after match-winning spell- Royal Challengers Bangalore bowler Harshal Patel took a maiden five-wicket haul in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 opening match at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. Harshal Patel delivered a stunning bowling performance before AB de Villiers’ masterclass helped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeat Mumbai Indians by two wickets.
In the press conference, Harshal Patel said, “Absolutely happy to be back. When they traded me they told me my role was going to be bowling in the death and that is something that I have worked on for a couple of years. Happy to be here and with the faith they have shown in me. I was just focused on my execution and the most important thing was to make use of my momentum,” he said.
“It is my first fifer in 98 T20s and the fact that it has come against MI makes it all the more special. I have worked a lot on my yorker. I was always good at the length balls and slower balls. I wanted to be a bowler who takes on responsibility and that’s what I have been working on for the last few years,” he added.
“Yorker is one thing that I was bowling for a long time but I was not confident enough to take that in the game but in last 15-20 days, I have to make sure I have to put myself in the situation to bowl that and I get really confident at it,” he further said.
Speaking on the victory, Patel went on to say, “Obviously, you always want to start well and that makes a massive impact on how you go about in the tournament and upcoming games. But this is my tenth season and I know things can change quickly- good or bad. All you have to do is focus on your planning, execution and take one game at a time.”
