Nagpur: With the 48-hour ultimatum by traders coming to an end on Friday, city police have fully geared up to ensure the law and order remains under control, and shopkeepers stick to Covid-19 restrictions.
Traders have threatened that from Friday they will initiate a non-cooperation movement, and keep shops open in defiance.
“Police will follow zero tolerance from Friday onwards, and people would be forced to go inside if they are found loitering,” said CP Amitesh Kumar. He also said large scale area domination and strong actions at sensitive locations from police can be expected from Friday onwards.
“No congregation or large-scale agitation would be allowed as they are blatant Covid inappropriate actions. We have filed three or four FIRs on Thursday,” he said.
Kumar also said meetings and negotiations with stakeholders had taken place on Thursday, with their grievances heard and assurance given to convey the same to the authorities.
On Thursday, a vehicle flag march was conducted by Nagpur Police in Zone II led by DCP Vinita S to spread awareness about the new guidelines under ‘Break the Chain’ notification issued by Maharashtra government.
The police requested citizens to cooperate with them in implementing the ‘Break the Chain’ drive. Further, citizens were requested to raise their grievances, if any, through the proper channel and at right forums, abiding by the law in force at present.
In all one DCP, 6 PIs, 20 API and PSIs, 80 police men and women including beat marshals and a section of SRPF along with 40 vehicles participated in the march.
The march started from Variety Square and passed through prominent areas of Sitabuldi, Dhantoli, Ambazari, Sadar, Gittikhadan and Mankapur PS before culminating at Mankapur Sports Complex.
