As Covid marches on, 6 die taking death toll to 617 in Hoshiarpur dist

Hoshiarpur, Apr 9 (UNI) Six more people died due to COVID-19 in district Hoshiarpur, pushing the death toll to 617, while 141 new cases took the infection tally to 16123, according to health bulletin issued here Friday evening by a senior Surgeon, Hoshiarpur.
Dr. Ranjit Singh Ghotra stated that of the total COVID-19 positive cases, 14275 patients were cured and discharged. As many as 1231 active cases were undergoing treatment in Covid Care Centres in the district.
Among those who succumbed to coronavirus during last 24 hours were all elderly.
The Health Department Friday received reports of 1757samples of which 17 local people and 100 from other health centres of the district reported coronavirus positive. In Friday's tally 24 people of this district reported coronavirus positive in which other districts had been included. As many as 2218 fresh samples of suspected coronavirus patients had been sent for testing.
The health department collected total 404893 samples of suspected coronavirus patients of which 387419 were found negative till date. Results of 4152 samples are still awaited.
