Hyderabad: Amid constant rumors about the use of loudspeakers for Azan, a leading Islamic scholar and the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) leader, Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rehmani, suggested that if an area has many mosques, external speakers should be used for Azan from one large mosque.
In a series of tweets, the spokesperson and acting general secretary of AIMPLB on Friday called for self-regulation in the use of loudspeakers for Azan or to ask for prayers and stressed the need to take all care according to Islamic teachings to ensure that no one is inconvenient.
Rehmani said that while the Muslim community must fight against the tirade of communal forces against Azan, they must also make sure that their actions are based on moderation according to Islamic teachings.
‘If a mohalla has many mosques, azan should be given on an external mike at one large mosque, and care should also be taken that the volume is not too high. It should be enough to reach the people in the area. In the remaining mosques, azan can be given on internal speakers or outside without speakers, ‘he wrote on Twitter in Urdu.
“Care should also be taken with the position of loudspeakers that they are not aimed at non-Muslim communities or hospitals, so as not to cause any inconvenience to others,” said Moulana Rehmani, founder and director of the Islamic Seminary Al- Mahad Ul Aali is, added. Al-Islami, Hyderabad.
Moulana also explained that he expressed his opinion in his personal capacity and not as an official of AIMPLB.
He also referred to announcements made by some mosques between Azan and Iqamat (beginning of namaz). ‘Today everyone has a cell phone and therefore there is no need to repeat memories. It is also noted that despite repeated reminders, only those people come to mosques who regularly offer namaz and they do not need repeated reminders. ”
The clergy also advised that speakers installed in the mosque should be used for sermons, ‘dars-e-quran’, ‘dars-e-hadith’ and the recitation of the Holy Qur’an during namaz on internal speakers in mosques be. The use of external speakers for this is not desirable as it is a lack of respect for holy Quran and religious talk.
Moulana Rahmani said these points should also be kept in mind during public meetings. Mikes must be used in meetings to the extent required, and meetings must be held during the allotted times according to the law.
He said that it is not correct to think why we should keep our volume low when people from other communities make noise and that high volume is used in marriages and election meetings.
‘It’s not right for us to copy other communities, nor should our act be a reaction. We must act with regard to the Shariat, where every care is taken to ensure moderation and save others from pain. ”
The AIMPLB leader’s advice is important given the recent development regarding Azan. A court in Goa recently ruled that speakers should not be used for Azan.
The Vice-Chancellor of Allahbad University also complained that Azan disturbed her sleep from a mosque near her residence. Following her complaint, the mosque committee reduced the volume and changed the direction of the loudspeaker.
Karnataka’s Minister of Haj and Waqf Anand Singh said Azan should not be given on the loudspeaker throughout the day. He stated that a public interest litigation (PIL) had been filed in the Karnataka High Court over the issue with the speakers due to Azan.
