Khammam: The Commissioner of Police (VP), Vishnu S Warrier, has instructed the police officers to strictly implement the guidelines issued by the State Government to the distribution of Covid-19.
Referring to Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s instructions given to the police on Thursday to impose a fine of Rs 1000 for not wearing face masks, the CP said on Friday that those who dare to do so without wearing masks in public places carry, RTC buses and private vehicles must pay the fine.
Warrier wanted the police department to conduct awareness-raising programs in collaboration with health, revenue and municipal departments and non-governmental organizations on the importance of wearing face masks.
The public must be explained about the dangers faced during the first wave of the country coronavirus pandemic and the need for precautionary measures in the wake of the ongoing Covid-19 second wave, the CP noted.
Meanwhile, municipal officials in the former Khammam have imposed fines for trespassing Covid-19 protocol. Kothagudem Municipality officials have so far fined about 2,000 shopkeepers and individuals for not wearing masks.
On Friday, Kothagudem Tahsildar Ramakrishna and ASO Ramesh Chandra Municipality inspected a theater and fined the theater management Rs 000 for failing to maintain the physical distance and ensuring that the audience wore face masks during the performance of a movie.
