Norwegian govt proposes year's IP address retention to combat online child abuse

The Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation said the government is proposing an obligation to store IP addresses for twelve months in order to combat online child abuse. Currently, ISPs are normally required to delete IP addresses after 21 days unless needed for operational purposes. Prime Minister Erna Solberg said digital tracks are of great importance to the police in tackling cybercrime against minors and that the new bill will support this endeavour.
