With less than a year away for the 2022 assembly elections and an apparent dormancy of Dalit-devoted Bahujan Samaj Party, the Samajwadi Party which is being seen as the main opposition to BJP in the state, will hold special Dalit outreach program on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.

Taking to Twitter, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav announced holding of a "Dalit Diwali" on the birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ambedkar-the father of the Indian Constitution. According to SP leaders, the party will be conducting "awareness camps" across the state - at district headquarter level and even at the panchayat level if possible, to educate the community of how the ruling BJP is "undermining" the constitutional values envisioned by Ambedkar through many of its actions in the state.
