MPP to fight 2022 Assembly polls

The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has started due preparations for the next State Assembly election which is due in 2022.Speaking to media persons at their Kangjeibung office today, MPP working president M Amutombi said that MPP would put up its candidates in all the Assembly Constituencies in the 2022 election.
Amutombi said that they would fight the election on the planks of getting Manipur declared as a hill State, perennial irrigation of the valley area so as to enhance agricultural productivity, development of markets exclusively for local produces, enhancement of fish productivity and development of tourism sector.
He informed that the party's former president L Borajao has been appointed as advisor.
MPP general secretary (administration) Haobijam Gitajen claimed that all the incumbent office bearers of the party have been recorded and recognised by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and ECI Under Secretary Manish Kumar sent a letter to this effect on March 19.Maintaining there is no longer any discord or controversy within the party, Gitajen appealed to all concerned not to project the party in wrong light.
As decided by the party's central committee and the working committee, the party's letterhead would be replaced by a new one.
The new letter head would be embossed with the letters KGA-MPP and each leaf would have a serial number, he said.
The back side of the letterhead would have watermarks of the party president, working president and the general secretary (administration), he added.
If any individual or group uses the name of MPP through WhatsApp or other mobile applications to defame the party, befitting legal action would be initiated, he warned.
Informing that they have been working to re-organise the party's Assembly committees in line with the party's constitution, Gitajen said that MPP would soon launch an enrolment drive.
He went on to claim that people would soon see a new, reinvigorated picture of the oldest regional party in the State after it went through a phase of very low ebb.
