MUMBAI: In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the
BMC will have a
live streaming of the
Ambedkar jayanti celebrations at
Chaityabhoomi in Dadar on April 14. Visitors who come to Chaityabhoomi on April 14, will be tested for Covid-19, BMC officials said.
Every year, thousands of followers come to Chaityabhoomi to pay homage to Dr BR
Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. Against that background, various facilities are being created at Chaityabhoomi by the BMC. These mainly include decorations, minor repairs and lighting. All these works are currently underway on the backdrop of Ambedkar’s 130th anniversary this year.
Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Sanjeev
Jaiswal inspected Chaityabhoomi on Friday. Jaiswal said that necessary precautions are being taken this year with special arrangements in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. Jaiswal urged followers to stay at home this year.
“Like every year, this year also there will be a formal celebration by government officials and dignitaries. However, in order for corona infection prevention guidelines to be adhered to, it is equally important to adhere to restrictions on gathering of people in order to prevent the spread of corona. All visitors will also be screened,” said an official.
