GUWAHATI, April 8: The Kamrup Metro district administration on Thursday declared the premises of Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Sonapur as ‘containment zone’ for a period of 14 days after detection of Covid-19 positive cases.
“In order to prevent further spread of Covid-19 virus amongst the teaching staff and students, the circle officer, Sonapur Revenue Circle has been directed to seal the area immediately,” an official order said here.
“The administration has also banned any unauthorised entry and exit from the containment zone for the next seven days.
“The movement of any unauthorised individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect,” the order said.
The order will remain effective from April 8 to April 21.
“Violation of the order will attract action under the provision of the “Assam Covid-19 Regulations, 2020”, Disaster Management Act, 2005, The Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and other relevant laws of the nation,” it added.
A total of 104 fresh Covid-19 positive cases have been reported from the district on April 7.
