India records 1,26,789 fresh Covid-19 cases, 26 Mumbai vaccination centres out of doses

India has recorded 1,26,789 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, out of which 59,907 fresh covid cases reported from Maharashtra, which is the highest single-day spike in a day. Chhattisgarh has crossed the 10,000 mark for the first time since the pandemic started.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said Mumbai has 120 covid vaccination centre, out of 26 centres already run out of Covid-19 vaccine doses. Kakani said vaccine stocks at another 20 centres are expected to dry up by Thursday. Doses in another 25 centres are likely to run out by Friday.

Kakani said if more doses are not supplied urgently, then all vaccination centres in Mumbai will run out of covid-19 vaccine doses.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday said the state has left with 14 lakh doses of covid-19 vaccines, which would last only three days. Panvel Municipal Corporation issued an official notice saying the drive is being halted for the time being because of the unavailability of vaccines. Later, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan told the reporters there is no shortage of vaccines in the states.

Vardhan said Maharashtra has failed to control the covid situation in the states, now to divert attention from its failure, the Maharashtra government is complaining of vaccine shortage, Vardhan said.

Vardhan further said States are given vaccines on the basis of their requirement and the stocks are continuously reloaded.

There are 5  worst-hit states by a coronavirus in the country are Maharashtra with 3,173,261 active cases, Kerala with 1,144,594 cases, Karnataka with 1,033,560 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 910,943 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 907,124 cases.

India’s covid caseload now stands at 1,29,28,574, of which 8,43,473 are active cases and 1,18,51,393 people have recovered from the virus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday has called a meeting with all Chief Ministers of states to discuss all the measures to control the covid situation in the country.
