MUMBAI: As many as 25 private
vaccination centres out of the 71 approved for Covid vaccination couldn’t carry out any inoculation as they ran out of doses on Thursday.
The remaining centres have adequate vaccines to carry out the drive on Friday, civic officials said.
Of the 120 vaccination centres in the city, 49 are public and 71 private. The shortage was mainly reported from the private hospitals. An average of 40,000 to 50,000 people are getting vaccinated at all these centres.
Civic officials said that they had received a total of 17,09,550 doses till April 7. Out of that, 1561420 vaccines were used. Around 148130 vaccines were left on Thursday after the day’s vaccination. “Of the remaining stock, 44,810 vaccines were reserved for the second dose as per the instructions of the
State Government. In other words, a total of 1,03,320 were available on Thursday morning. After the use of about 40,000- 50,000 doses the city will be left with enough vaccines to last only a day (till Friday),” said the civic body in a press statement.
“The
BMC is following up with the state about vaccine doses,” the corporation said.
