Forget hairdressers and gyms - the important news about Monday 12th April is that car dealerships will be open again. And despite all the news that's out there about the number of buyers choosing their new vehicles without so much as seeing one, for a lot of us there's nothing better - or more important - than seeing a potential purchase up close and personal.
That would seem especially true of a Lotus - you need to make sure you fit, for starters - and so its dealers are opening on Monday with a newly enhanced Approved scheme. Offered on used cars up to 20 years old, all Lotuses sold as Approved models are subjected to a comprehensive inspection and road test by a factory-trained technician. Each one will also be sold with at least a 12-month warranty, a full service history and vehicle history check, a year's breakdown cover plus an MOT and service if one is required within three months. As part of the Approved programme, the cars will also come with a Certificate of Provenance and a Lotus gift box of goodies.
Geoff Dowding, Executive Director of Lotus Sales and Aftersales, said: "The relaunch of the Lotus Approved programme is another significant milestone in the transformation of our business. This is a win-win scenario for everyone; for customers new to the Lotus brand it delivers added value and peace of mind, and for our retailers it's an opportunity to expand their customer base."
All of which means it should just be up to the buyer to pick the right Lotus (and dealer) for them. Central Lotus has this Elise S available at less than £35k with 7,000 miles, for example. Those after an Evora would do well to check out Lotus Bradford's half dozen, and Lotus Silverstone has a lovely 2019 Exige Sport 350 in 'Italian Flag Green' on the forecourt.
