PANAJI: The state government has spent funds to the tune of around Rs 4 crore to launch the year-long celebrations of the 60th year of Goa’s Liberation from December 19, 2020.
The state cabinet on Wednesday gave ex post facto approval for the amount spent for the launch ceremony. The state cabinet also gave ex post facto approval for Rs 5 crore for the works taken up during the President and Vice-President’s visit.
The cabinet note said that the state government has decided to constitute a state-level organising and monitoring committee headed by the chief minister for coordinating the celebrations.
The committee authorised the chief minister to take urgent decisions.
The council of ministers also vested the chairman of the committee with financial and administrative powers, including the power to relax the codal formalities, where deemded appropriate, to enable timely planning and execution of planned activities/programmes.
The note said the department of information and publicity (DIP) sought a proposal from the event management agencies empaneled with Goa Tourism Development Corporation for executing the celebrations.
The cabinet note said that DIP issued work order to Vinsan Graphics for being the lowest bidder.
