The Alcazar is the latest offering from Hyundai. It is a 7-seater SUV that is based on the Creta. The manufacturer kept teasing the camouflaged version of the SUV. The Alcazar was showcased at the Alila Fort, Bishangarh in Rajasthan. According to Hyundai, the SUV has been thoroughly tested through hilly terrain, rural and highway roads in hot & dry conditions. The manufacturer now has revealed the SUV themselves and some details about it.

The Alcazar is built using 75.6 % Advanced and High-Strength Steel which should provide for better safety of the occupants. The underbody of the SUV has been specially designed to absorb and disperse the energy of the impact. Hyundai has also worked on improving the NVH or Noise Vibration and Harshness levels of the Alcazar to provide a more comfortable and quiet ride. They have also tuned the ride quality of the SUV by providing a hydraulic rebound stopper in the front strut so that the rebound of the suspension could be controlled.

Powering the SUV will be two engine options. There will be the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that we have seen on the Tucson premium SUV and the Elantra premium sedan. The engine would produce 159 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 191 Nm. Then there will be the 1.5-litre diesel engine that we have seen on various models such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Verna, i20, Venue and the Kia Seltos. The engine produces 115 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 250 Nm. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Hyundai is also claiming that the petrol engine when mated to the manual gearbox can hit a ton in under 10 seconds. There will be three driving modes on offer namely Eco, City and Sport.

Hyundai has worked quite a bit to make the Alcazar. They increased the length of the Alcazar by 30 mm when compared to Creta. Also, at 2,760 mm, the wheelbase of Alcazar is also longer by 20 mm. this should provide better cabin space and legroom to the occupants. What will also help in liberating legroom is that the second-row seats can slide so the legroom for the third-row occupants could be increased.

The Alcazar will be offered as a 7-seater or a 6-seater with captain seats for the second row. The 6-seater version will come with a dedicated centre console for the rear occupants which is a first in the segment. The third-row seats could be reclined and also be folded flat for increasing the boot space of the SUV. Hyundai is also expected to offer rear seatback trays for second-row occupants.

It will come with features like a wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel and a lot more. There will also be a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and BlueLink connected car technology. The Alcazar is expected to go on sale sometime in June 2021.
