Maha FDA commissioner writes to seven pharma companies to supply 36.40 lakh remdesivir injections

Nagpur: Maharashtra Food and Drugs administration (FDA) commissioner has written letters to seven pharmaceutical companies to supply 36.40 lakh remdesivir injections to the state between April 10 and 29 and 35,000 injections each day post April 30. The state is currently undergoing acute shortage of remdesivir injections, used as a crucial component in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
FDA commissioner Abhimanyu Kale has asked the pharmaceutical companies to regulate their remdesivir supplies in the fortnight between April 10 and 29. The injections are learnt to be coming from their manufacturing units located in Hyderabad, Gujarat and Badri in Himachal Pradesh.
As per a highly placed source in FDA, the crisis is set to stretch for a few more days until the supplies from the manufacturing units become regular.
"The supplies of remdesivir will be erratic till April 15. Efforts are on to regularise them as soon as possible," said the FDA source.
