MADURAI: The
Madurai District Tiny and
Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) appealed to micro, small and medium enterprises to adhere to the
Covid-19 guidelines issued by the
Tamil Nadu government and take all precautionary measures to avert a full
lockdown in view of the second wave of the virus.
In an advisory, association president B Muruganandham recalled the impact of last year’s full lockdown on the industry and stated that it could be avoided by preventing the spread of the virus at workplaces.
Maditssia emphasised on screening all the workers with a thermal scanner before they stepped into the premises for work every day, sanitising their hands, ensuring that all the employees wear masks and maintain social distancing.
Muruganandham also asked industries to help their workforce get tested using the RT-PCR and those aged above 45 years to get vaccinated at government facilities or private hospitals.
Industries with more than 100 workers can register online and get them vaccinated at the workplaces.
The association president said the Directorate of Industries and Commerce in a virtual meeting with industry bodies sought details such as total number of employees, employees aged above 45 years and number of staff vaccinated and adherence to Covid-19 norms for every industrial unit, big and small alike.
On submission of the same, the industries will get the benefits extended by the ministry.
Stating that health department officials would inspect units to check compliance to guidelines, the association warned that noncompliance could lead to slapping of hefty fines or even sealing of the units, it added.
