India's vaccination criteria same as other nations, we have to prioritise: PM Modi on age-limit debate

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hit out at people who are questioning Centre's vaccination age criteria and said the standards adopted by India are the same as the ones undertaken by countries across the globe.

"You are educated. Please read the standards adopted by countries across the globe and you will realise India's criteria for vaccination is no different from those applied by most prosperous countries," he said, adding that there is a need to prioritise.

Responding to demands in some quarters for vaccination of younger population, PM Modi appealed to the youth to follow Covid appropriate protocols to defeat the virus.
The PM appealed to the youth to help all people aged above 45 in their areas to get vaccinated.
Several chief ministers, including Arvind Kejriwal and Uddhav Thackeray, had written to the Prime Minister and urged him to relax the age restrictions for vaccination.
