Thane, Apr 8 (UNI) To address the ever-increasing demand for beds in the city, Mayor Naresh Mhaske on Thursday asked the civic administration to make available empty civic buildings and properties to private hospitals at nominal charges to immediately start Covid hospitals there.
Since the city has been witnessing the surge in Covid patients and acute shortage of beds and accessories, the civic administration should throw open the unoccupied and empty civic properties for setting up Covid treatment hospitals, he said in an official release here and sought immediate compliance from the civic administration in this regard.
He also asked the civic administration to give permission to the hospitals having more than 25 beds to start treatment to Covid patients.
In addition to this, the Mayor suggested that the temporary Covid hospitals, set up at the parking plazas in the city, to be made permanent.
