Uttar Pradesh: Rape convict Kuldeep Senger’s wife is BJP candidate in panchayat election

Sangeeta Sengar (in picture) will contest from Fatehpur Chaurasi's Ward-3 in Unnao Zila Panchayat.
LUCKNOW: Nearly one-and-a-half-year after he was expelled from the BJP on charges of rape of a minor, former MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger’s wife Sangeeta Senger has been made party candidate for the upcoming panchayat elections.
Sangeeta will contest from Fatehpur Chaurasi's Ward-3 in Unnao Zila Panchayat.
Sangeeta Senger had won the zila panchayat chairperson election in 2016.
BJP sources said that Senger was made the candidate given the influence the family wields in Unnao.
Her candidature, party sources said, was approved by senior state party leaders, including state BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh and state general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal at a meeting held recently.
Kuldeep Senger, sentenced to life in jail, was disqualified as the member of the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly last year in February.
