Deutsche Telekom, Siemens, Bosch receive funding for digital ID applications project

Deutsche Telekom, Siemens and Bosch are among the partners in a consortium receiving funding from the German Ministry for Economic Affairs for the project IDunion, which is developing infrastructure for verifying identification data. The ministry said it is providing EUR 15.6 million for the project, which is led by Main Incubator, the R&D unit of Commerzbank. IDunion will take the legal form of a European cooperative. Other partners in the project include Deutsche Bahn, the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology and CodeCamp, among others.
