Tamil Nadu assembly election: This district comes first in high voter turnout

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded 72.78% voter turnout in assembly election, chief electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo said on Wednesday.
Karur topped the districts with a high turnout of 83.92% followed by Ariyalur (82.47%) and Dharmapuri (82.35%). Former minister and DMK leader V Senthil Balaji is pitted against transport minister M R Vijayabaskar in Karur assembly segment. Chennai recorded the least polling in the state with 59.06% voter turnout.
Namakkal and Salem recorded 79.72% and 79.22% polling respectively.
This is followed by northern districts, Perambalur, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Krishnaigiri that have recorded polling in the range of 77.3% to 79.09%.
Delta districts Tiruvarur, Cuddalore, Pukkottai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Trichy have recorded polling ranging between 73.79% and 76.50%.
