Patna: The state cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal to increase the honorarium payable to guest/part-time lecturers requisitioned by various universities and constituent colleges to take the classes. The existing honorarium was Rs 1,000 per class with a maximum of Rs 25,000 per month. Now, they will get Rs 1,500 per class with a maximum of Rs 50,000 per month.
Cabinet secretariat department principal secretary Sanjay Kumar said that it will benefit 1,600 guest/part-time lecturers taking classes at present in the university departments and that of constituent colleges. The committee, headed by the vice-chancellor of the respective universities, will select the guest/part-time lecturers over the existing ones, if needed.
The cabinet also cleared the proposal to establish 139 old-age homes with 6,950 beds covering all the 38 districts and 101 sub-divisional headquarters under the new scheme of Mukhyamanti Vriddhajan Ashray Sthal Yojana (MVASY) being implemented from the current fiscal.
The budgetary provision has also been made to start work on the proposal moved by the social welfare department.
Under the scheme, a 100-bed (including two units of 50-bed each) shelter home for the old persons will be established at each of the 38 district headquarters, while each of the 101 sub-divisional headquarters will have one such shelter with 50 beds, Kumar said.
He added that as per the budgetary allocation, the annual recurring expenditure on each unit of 50-bed shelter will be Rs42.97 lakh, which will be utilized on food and related items.
The health department’s proposal to sell its old and rickety machines, equipment, ambulances, old vehicles etc as scrap material was also given nod as to create new space in the compound of its various offices where they are dumped or lie abandoned.
The disposal of the scrap will be made through auction on the platform of Metal Scrap Trade Corporation Limited, which is the Centre’s undertaking.
The cabinet approved the general administration department’s proposal to create a post of law officer at Bihar Technical Service Commission, besides creating additional 28 gazetted and non-gazetted posts. Besides, the creation of three posts of vehicle drivers for Bihar Information Commission was also approved.
The cabinet cleared eight proposals from the various departments.
