A disappointed Gavin Hunt On Tuesday rued what he called schoolboy errors from his players in the goalkeeping department and defence, as his Kaizer Chiefs side scored late to grab a 2-2 draw against Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium.

Stellenbosch scored first following yet another goalkeeping error as Daniel Akpeyi was beaten in the air by Nathan Sinkala, who gave the visitors the lead.

Defender Eric Mathoho then misjudged a cross that allowed Phathutshedzo Nange to rifle in a bullet header as Stellenbosch retook the lead late.

Hunt credited his players for showing determination to grab a late draw after young attacker Nkosingiphile Ngcobo scored late on and highlighted costly error by his side.

"All in all disappointed with the result, I thought we've got to do better than that and see these games out," Hunt said post-match.

"But they obviously got a foothold in the game after getting the early goal and then once we get an equaliser, we went down 2-1 again.

"The second goal was a real schoolboy error. The same position again as well, really bad defending and it's something that has cost us all season."

Hunt added that his side failed to manage the game and for a majority played right into the hands of their opponents.

"For a game against Stellenbosch you don't want it to go from end to end," Hunt added.

"You want to stay a little more compact but when you start chasing it the game opens up and that suits them.

"Like I said we were chasing the game and there has been two areas of the pitch that has cost us the whole season.

"But disappointed in the result because it's a home game and we have to get off and start seeing what we've been doing in training in recent weeks."

Chiefs next face a crucial CAF Champions League clash away to Horoya in their final Group C fixture on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 21:00.
