Ranchi: Ranchi University (RU) on Tuesday said it will stop physical classes and return to online education in wake of a massive spike in Covid cases in the city and across the state. The varsity officials have issued directions to principals and heads of departments to take necessary steps in this regard.
In a meeting of RU’s Covid -19 cell chaired by vice-chancellor (VC) Kamini Kumar, the authorities decided that post-graduate and under-graduate classes will be held online from Wednesday until further orders. Kumar said, “Classes were being conducted both offline and online, but now both classes and examinations will be held online.”
In the Covid cell order, students have been advised to stay at home and ensure 100% attendance in online classes, prohibited unnecessary visits to the university campus. The orders stated that officials and staff of the university will come to office following all Covid-19 norms. The principals and heads of departments have been asked to arrange for masks, sanitizers and other preventive measures at the workplace.
The varsity has also banned entry of people without masks on its premises. Moreover, visits of common people and others without identity cards have been prohibited. The university officials further said that all directions issued by the government must be obeyed.
