PRAYAGRAJ: The recent spike in Covid-19 cases has become a matter of utmost concern for the health police and
district authorities. Over 200 new hotspots of the coronavirus pandemic have been emerged in the city within 24 hours, as Tuesday alone recorded a total of 1,084
Covid positive cases.
Till Monday, the number of active hotspots in the city was 653, which surged to 992 on Tuesday. Officials of health department and district authorities have 236 new hotspots to monitor in order to contain the spread of the infection.
They said that the number of active hotspots will now rise or decline per day as per the strength of Covid-19 cases. Currently, there has been a rising trend, and the graph of coronavirus cases crossed the 1000 mark on Tuesday.
There is rush at the Covid testing centres these days, as more and more people queue up to get tested.
After March 20, the number of Covid hotspots multiplied much faster and reached 551 on Sunday (April 3). .It further surged to 992 on Tuesday (April 6).
Apart from roping in additional Rapid Response Teams (RRT) across the district, the health officials have also intensified contact tracing of positive patients to contain the spread of the pandemic.

hospitals including Covid L3
SRN Hospital and TB Sapru Hospital are running to treat the Covid-19 patients. The total capacity of beds is 450—320 at SRN Hospital and 130 at TB Sapru Hospital. As many as 262 patients had been undergoing treatment at these hospitals till Tuesday.
As per official data, the city had a total of 33,237 cases till Tuesday. While 29,340 patients have recovered (7295 discharged from hospitals and 22,045 completed home isolation), there are 3,469 active cases as of Tuesday. The city has also reported 428 Covid deaths so far.
In the past six days (between April 1 and 6), the city reported 3,127 Covid cases—1084 on April 6, 652 on April 5, 475 on April 4, 398 on April 3, 296 on April 2 and 222 on April 1.
A senior health official said, “Apart from the vaccination drive, we are also creating mass awareness against the pandemic through public address system.”
He added that people have been appealed to strictly follow the Covid-19 protocol. This would help the authorities to check the spread of the disease.
