LUCKNOW: In a new record, more than five lakh persons were vaccinated across 5,000 sites in the state on Monday even as the counting for the
doses given on Tuesday continued till late at night.
The list of beneficiaries on Tuesday included health minister Jai Pratap Singh who took his second dose at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital.
As per the data from the
CoWin portal, 5,01,599 doses were administered on Monday. Among all districts, Lucknow ranked first with 17,784 jabs given in a single day.
Updating about the vaccination status in state, additional chief secretary Amit Mohan Prasad said: “Five lakh doses were given out on Monday and so far the total number of doses given in UP reached 71,73,063 which includes 60.47 lakh persons receiving the first dose and the remaining taking both the doses.”
He urged eligible persons to come forward and take the
Covid-19 vaccine. However, an assessment undertaken by the Union ministry of health and family welfare indicated that UP needs to push
Covid-19 vaccination further.
Evaluating the performance of states in terms of total number of doses given, the assessment indicated that UP ranked number four among states. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan were ahead of UP in terms of vaccination.
In terms of percentage share, 8.5% of the total
vaccine doses given in the country were administered in UP.
The share of the best performing Maharashtra was 9.72%.
