Thane, Apr 6 (UNI) As many as 80 inmates of the Thane central jail, including the undertrials and convicts, have been administered the Covid vaccine so far, official sources said on Tuesday.
Talking to media here, Thane civil surgeon Dr Kailas Pawar said that inmates were brought to the Thane civil hospital in batches of 20 and given the vaccine.
There are around 3,800 inmates in the jail, he said and informed that those above aged 45 will be given the vaccine.
All the inmates will be ultimately given the vaccine, he added.
The vaccination prevents admission and treatment at hospital in case anyone gets infected with Covid, Dr Pawar informed while ruling out any side effects due to vaccination.
