Dog found in plastic bag in Lawrence suffered 'extensive abuse'

Apr. 7—LAWRENCE — The public's help is being sought after a dog that suffered severe abuse was found in a plastic bag behind a Lawrence school.

A necropsy — an autopsy of the dog — "revealed the dog's death was the result of extensive abuse," according to information released Wednesday morning by the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

The rescue league and Lawrence police are investigating the death of the Jack Russell terrier, which was found March 17 on a frequented walking trail behind the South Lawrence East Middle School at 165 Crawford St.

The white-and-tan dog, approximately one year old, was partially wrapped in a "pee pad" and placed in a black plastic bag.

"There was blood present inside the bag on the dog's body, as well as urine staining on the dog's tail," according the rescue league statement.

Authorities said it was likely the dog had not been left there for very long.

The necropsy revealed extreme cruelty and determined the dog's "cause of death to be acute blood loss and multiple skull fractures. Extensive bruising on the body indicates the dog was also intermittently abused in the 36-hours leading up to his death," according to the rescue league.

They created a breeding enclosure in a plasterer's bath, and played sounds of males mating so they felt like they were surrounded by rivals, and turned bright blue. Normally, they do not turn fully blue in captivity as the sound of hundreds of rivals triggers the change.

Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, were found dead on Valentine’s Day 2017 after going missing the previous day while hiking on the Delphi Historic Trails during a day off from school. Their bodies were found about a half-mile off the hiking trail. Authorities have since released video and an audio recording of a suspect found on German's phone, as well as sketches of a potential suspect. The Indiana State Police announced on Monday that an anonymous donor gave $100,000 to the Delphi Investigation Reward Fund, which now totals $325,000 and will be given to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. State Police Superintendent Doug Carter told WPTA in Indiana that investigators believe the killer is hiding in plain sight and is likely still in Delphi. "We have a witness. You made mistakes," Carter warned, talking directly to the murderer. "We are coming for you and there's no place for a heartless coward like you to hide that gets his thrill from killing little girls." "Over the past four years we have been amazed by all the support and love people have for our girls," she told Oxygen.com. "We are incredibly grateful for the kind donor that added $100,000 to the reward fund this week. We pray that this donation is another step closer to finding justice for Abby and Libby. Please let 2021 be their year for justice! If you know something, say something." The state police encourage people to send in tips but urge the people to refrain from posting side-by-side pictures of the sketch and anyone they believe is a suspect on social media. “These types of posts do not help the investigation and can slander innocent people and their families,” they stated. “We want to thank the public for your continued desire to help solve this case, but please do this with the consideration of others in mind.
