US pay-TV industry agrees to new STB energy standards from 2023

The US pay-TV industry has agreed to extend a voluntary arrangement to improve the energy efficiency of set-top boxes and TV receivers. Under the agreement by the Consumer Technology Association, which represents most hardware manufacturers, and NCTA – The Internet & Television Association (NCTA) representing TV providers, the boxes will come with more rigorous energy-efficiency commitments starting in 2023.
