New Delhi: In another development in the Antilia bomb scare case, the suspended Mumbai Police inspector Sachin Vaze on Wednesday wrote a letter to the NIA, accusing Maharashtra ministers Anil Deshmukh and Anil Parab of extortion, as per India Today report. Vaze, in his handwritten letter, has claimed that NCP chief Sharad Pawar was against his reinstatement into Mumbai Police in 2020 and wanted it to be revoked to which Deshmukh demanded Rs 2 crore to continue his service in Mumbai police.
Earlier, Param Bir Singh, had also levelled Rs 100 crore extortion charges against Anil Deshmukh. Param Bir Singh in a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister earlier had said that Deshmukh had asked him to collect Rs 100 crore from pubs, restaurants, other establishments in Mumbai every month.
On Monday, Anil Deshmukh had resigned as the Maharashtra home minister after the Bombay High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into the allegations against him by former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh.
As per updates, a team of the central probe agency landed in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon, collected all relevant documents and initiated the preliminary probe in compliance with the high court order. “The CBI has registered a PE in the respect of the Bombay High Court order dated April 5, 2021,” CBI spokesperson RC Joshi was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
