'Fishing' standoff continues as US, China aircraft carriers sail in South China Sea

Canberra, Apr 6 (UNI) The US and China have deployed aircraft carriers in the South and East China Seas, as the two superpowers engage in a round of power projection on the disputed waters.
This development comes in the midst of tensions in the Indo-Pacific region, where hundreds of Chinese vessels, which the Philippines has claimed to be linked to China's Navy, anchored inside Manila's 320-kilometre exclusive zone.
As per a 9 news report, Philippines had sent a light military aircraft to fly over the 200-plus boat flotilla, at the Whitsun Reef during the past week.
The Chinese fleet remains there despite Manila's growing protests.
The US, Indonesia and Japan have also stepped up pressure on China regarding the dispute.
