More than 80 percent vote in the final phase of Assam elections

Dispur: Assam on Tuesday recorded a turnout of more than 80 percent in the third and final phase of the vote, according to the latest figures from the Electoral Commission.

According to EC data, the turnout at 19:11 was 82.29 percent. The polling station would end at 7 p.m. The third phase of the election in the tea garden state was held in 40 constituencies of 12 districts in the state.

The fate of 337 candidates, including the Prime Minister and leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Hemanta Biswa Sarma in the Jalukbari constituency, had to be decided in this phase of the ballot box.
Leaders of the BJP-led alliance and the leadership of Congress expressed their confidence about their victory in the polls.

The first phase, on March 27, was a turnout of nearly 77 percent, while a turnout of nearly 74.76 percent was recorded in the second phase’s vote on April 1. The counting of votes will take place on 2 May.
