Work to acquire land for second phase of Noida International Airport to begin this week

GREATER NOIDA: The process to acquire land for the second phase of the Noida International Airport will be initiated this week.
The district administration is expected to notify Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act on Wednesday and start work on the social impact assessment study covering six villages that will come under the second phase.

A total of 1,185 hectares of private land will be acquired in the villages of Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Kureb, Ranhera and Mundhera. This land will be used for constructing the third runway and a commercial MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul work of airplanes) centre.
Additional district magistrate (land acquisition) Balram Singh said Gautam Buddha University would be asked to carry out the social impact assessment study. “They had done the research and survey work for the first phase of the project. They are also involved in similar studies of two other big ticket infrastructure projects,” he added.
SIA study is mandated under the Land Acquisition Act and it is conducted to find out how many people will be lose their agricultural fields, properties or livelihood. The survey report will also have to mention how many people will lose their livelihood indirectly due to the acquisition.
Moreover, suggestions of all stakeholders would be compiled and a summarised version, along with the objections and suggestions of villagers, would be sent to the UP government. Besides the airport, land is also being acquired for the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor and a dedicated freight corridor in the district. The land acquisition for the second phase will require almost Rs 2,891 crore, of which the administration has already received Rs 1,084 crore from the state government. The remaining amount has to be arranged by the three authorities in Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway.
