Viewing the pandemic situation grimly, Gujarat High Court on Tuesday asked the state government to decide upon lock down for there four days as well as imposing weekend curfew.
While the state government would decide upon the course of action after studying the order of the High Court, Gujarat has been for the records witnessing more than 3000 cases of daily infection recently.
The division bench of the High Court comprising of Chief Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Bhargav Karia also maintained that the social, political and religious congregations be entirely stopped in the state in view of the raging pandemic. It will not be out of place here to mention that the state witnessed large-scale political gatherings recently in the wake of local body elections as well as India England cricket match in Narendra Modi Stadium.
As a matter of fact, some students from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad who went to see the match returned infected and hid their conditions leading to an eruption of infection in the premiere business school.
It may also be mentioned here that Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation is due for election and the political parties have already gone into electioneering. The order of the High Court in all likelihood impact the campaigning of the election as well.

H K Doshi55 minutes ago High Court has no business to advise government as government is deciding actions based on Corona Task Force recommendations. Under lock down vaccination drive could affect adversely. As vaccination is only way to control corona instead of lock down High Court could have advised to speed up vaccination in the State round the clock I.e. 24*7. IIM Ahmedabad is management institution but failed to manage Corona spread in its campus. IIM students and faculties appears to be careless and does not declare exact position of corona cases in its campus. |
