Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 6 (UNI) An estimated 39.6 per cent of more than 2.74 crore electorate have exercise their franchise in the single phase Assembly election for 140 seats in Kerala till this noon.
Official sources said, Kozhikode district recorded the highest voter turnout of 42.5 percent till 1200 hrs while Thiruvananthapuram recorded the lowest turnout of 30.5 per cent.
The polling percentage in Ernakulam district is 37.5 Kollam 36.3, Thrissur 40.3, Pathanamthitta 40.1, Alappuzha 40.1, Kottayam 39.6, Palakkad 38.6, Kannur 40.5, Malappuram 37.8, Idukki 34.2, Wayanad 37.1 and Kasaragod 35.7, the sources added.
Serpentine queues witnessed at most polling booths from morning itself.
First time voters, women and senior citizens voted in large numbers in the initial hours after polling started at 0700 hours.
