With the help of artificial intelligence, Toronto organisation Over The Bridge has created "new" songs by artists like Nirvana and Amy Winehouse for a compilation project called Lost Tapes of the 27 Club.
The 27 Club refers to a group of popular artists like Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain who died tragically at the age of 27.
The aim of the project is to raise awareness for the importance of mental health support,NME reports.
So how were the songs created?
According to the publication, the tracks were made with Google's AI software, Magenta, which works by analysing an artist's previous work and then using the information gathered to compose a song in the way that particular artist would. Another AI programme was then used to write the lyrics.
Vocals on the Nirvana track Drowned in the Sun, created by the AI software, was done by Eric Hogan, frontman of Atlanta's Nevermind: The Ultimate Tribute to Nirvana.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Over The Bridge's Sean O' Connor said the Lost Tapes of the 27 Club compilation was created to draw attention to the mental health issues faced by musicians and offer them support.
"What if all these musicians that we love had mental health support?" he questioned, adding: "Somehow in the music industry, [depression] is romanticised ... Their music is seen as authentic suffering."
