2021 Triumph Trident 660 India Launch Highlights: Triumph Trident 660 had been one of the most awaited motorcycles to launch this year for it is the easiest way to bring home a Triumph. So far, the most affordable Triumph motorcycle had been the Street Twin which retails at Rs 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom), but the Trident 660 has been launched at a price even lesser than the Twin. Bookings have been long open and the British manufacturer has stated that over 100 bookings were confirmed before the price announcement. The compact roadster will rival the likes of the Kawasaki Z650 in India.

    Triumph Trident 660 overview

    Triumph Trident 660 is an all-new roadster that is now also the most affordable motorcycle in the British manufacturer's product lineup at an introductory price of Rs 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). It is powered by a 660cc three-cylinder engine and boasts electronics likes ABS and switchable traction control. It will be available in four colour options.     Test rides and deliveries

    Triumph Motorcycle India states that 125 bookings were confirmed before the price announcement and that the deliveries for these will be made by end of this month, which is also when the test rides will begin at dealerships.

    The Trident 660 has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 6,95,000 (ex-showroom). Triumph is also making an easy EMI option available at Rs 9,999.

    Personalisation

    Customers can opt for personalising their Trident 660 by choosing from a range of over 45 genuine Triumph accessories, which have been developed alongside the bike itself, subjected to the same quality and testing processes.

    Service interval and warranty

    Triumph says that the Trident will have the lowest service workshop time in the category, a service interval of 16,000 km (or 12 months) and a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty.

    Braking

    There are dual 310mm disc brakes at the front with a Nissin two-pot sliding calliper. The rear has a single 250mm disc with a single-piston calliper. Rider aids like ABS, switchable traction control and two riding modes will come as standard on the Trident 660.

    Suspension set up

    Triumph India have begun the launch proceedings on its Twitter handle. The Trident will come with Showa suspension set up that inlcudes 41mm upside down separate function forks at the front with 120mm travel. At the rear, it gets a monoshock with 133.5mm travel which will be adjustable for preload.

    Gearbox

    With a wet weight of 189 kg, the Trident 660 will also be slightly lighter than its Japanese rival. The 6-speed gearbox comes with a slip and assist clutch and the company is also giving customers the option to add a bi-directional quick shifter to the bike if they want.

    Power!

    The compact roadster will come with Triumph’s triple engine with a displacement of 660cc and will produce 80.4hp and 64Nm of peak torque. This means that the Trident puts out roughly 13hp more than its closest rival, the Kawasaki Z650 and the same amount of torque.

    Instrument cluster features

    The round instrument cluster is digital and has two colour TFT screens to display information. There is an accessory kit that adds My Triumph connectivity feature to the bike. This allows you to get turn-by-turn navigation and to control your GoPro and even smartphone.

    Triumph will offer the Trident 660 in four colour options – Crystal White, Sapphire Black, Matt Jet Black And Silver Ice and Silver Ice Diablo Red.

    What're we in for?

    The Trident 660 is a naked motorcycle with compact proportions. It gets a circular LED headlamp and self-cancelling LED turn indicators which look sleek. The bike will come with smart looking 5-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels that are shod with Michelin 5 tyres. The 14-litre fuel tank has special cut-out areas for the rider to position their knees. Seat height is set at 805mm and it gets a single-piece seat.
