Haryana: BJP MP’s vehicle vandalised during farmers' protest

BJP MP Nayab Singh Saini was confronted by the farmers when he was passing through the town.
SHAHABAD-MARKANDA: Agitating farmers on Tuesday confronted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Kurukshetra Nayab Singh Saini at Shahabad-Markanda town of Kurukshetra district and allegedly vandalised the SUV he was travelling in.
Saini was confronted by the farmers when he was passing through the town.
As per the information, the farmers protesting against the three newly-enacted farm laws, had given a call for a sit in in front of the house of of Shahabad’s Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) MLA Ram Karan Kala.
“The farmers came to know that MP Nayab Saini has also come to the town. The farmers went outside the residence of the BJP worker and started raising slogans against him,” said deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Atma Ram.
“I was leaving the town when about 50 protestors confronted our vehicle. A few of them even jumped on to the vehicle and someone smashed the SUV's rear windshield. Those were some anti-social elements and they are defaming the farmers,” the MP said.
"Congress party is silently working behind this and the people will give a befitting reply to them in the poll-bound states," said Nayab.
“We are investigating the matter and would file a case against those found responsible for the violence. As of now, we have not received any written complaint in this regard,” DSP Atma Ram said.
