52-yr-old woman prisoner hangs self in Thane jail

Thane, Apr 5 (UNI) A 52-year-old woman undertrial prisoner lodged at the Aadharwadi jail allegedly committed suicide in the toilet on Monday.
A case of accidental death has been registered by the Khadakpada police station in this regard, police said.
The woman undertrial, Mayabai Ramdas Agle, a resident of Chirag Nagar in Thane city, was arrested on alleged charges of brutally killing her son Satish (24) on January 7 last year.
Annoyed with her son for being unemployed, the woman with the help of her elder son and another person killed Satish and then dumped his body in the Kasara Ghats.
It was on January 9, she approached the Kasara police and lodged a complaint of the killing of her son by unidentified persons, after which the body was recovered.
During investigation, police came to know about the conspiracy hatched by Mayabai and arrested her, following which, she was lodged in the jail.
Today she went to the toilet and hanged herself to death with the help of saree.
The jail staff found her body in the toilet and sent it for postmortem before reporting about the incident to the local police.
The local police are probing into the incident, it was stated.
