    Hip impingement or something else?

I've had hip pain for several weeks. I was tattooed on the thigh on March 17th and had to hold my leg a little high and tense it for 5 hours. After the tattoo, my groin lymph node was quite swollen and I had relatively severe groin discomfort and hip pain. The family doctor ruled out a hernia and the groin discomfort subsided, but the hip pain remained. I went for a 12km walk on March 28th and halfway through my hips started to hurt with every step.

I can provoke this hip pain especially when I rotate my hips internally (but here the pain only comes when my hip is completely rotated internally) or when I squat very deeply with just my body body weight. My internal rotation is good, I get 35-40 degrees of rotation with both legs.

The symptoms of internal rotation are found on the outside of the hip.

The complaints with squats are found in the front of the hip.

My orthopedic surgeon did a few hip impingement tests with me and she believes it's not impingement (which I hope of course). She says it could be the Rectus Femoris or the Sartorius. However, I don't see much improvement and I find that the symptoms are indicative of impingement.

Now my question in the round: Has anyone had similar experiences here? Is impingement always linked to poor internal rotation? Or could my symptoms also come from poor hip mobility?
