Schools to reopen for CBSE practical exams

LUDHIANA: Students of CBSE schools in the district are allowed to attend schools for practical exams from April 5-30. Earlier, with the recent hike in Covid-19 positive cases, all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, were ordered to remain closed till 10 April. Only the teaching and non-teaching staff will attend schools on all working days.
Dr. Paramjit Kaur, CBSE city coordinator, Ludhiana, said according to CBSE notice, on February 27, schools have been directed to conduct practical examinations from March 1. She said she has requested to allow CBSE schools in Ludhiana to conduct the practical exams from April 2-30.
“According to CBSE notification, practical exams can be held till June 11. However, final exams will start on May 4. So, it is better for the students to finish their practicals before that to concentrate better on their theory papers,” Kaur added.
DC Varinder Sharma said, “School authorities will call the students in two groups from 9 am to noon and from 2 pm to 5 pm and in each group, maximum of 25 students will be allowed to participate.”
According to him, school authorities should ensure compliance with all the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Punjab government. “Authorities will have to ensure proper sanitisation of school camps twice a day. Also, proper wearing of masks and social distancing guidelines need to be maintained,” he added.
“School authorities will record all the activities in CCTV cameras/ videography. Any violation of the guidelines will be punishable under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides legal action under Section 88 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” stated an order sent out by the district administration.
