Will NDA clinch Puducherry battle
- Polling underway in all the 30 assembly seats in the union territory of Puducherry
- The main fight is between the Congress -DMK alliance and the AINRC-BJP-AIADMK alliance.
- For NDA, All India NR Congress is contesting in 16 seats, BJP in 9, AIADMK in 5
- For UPA, Congress is contesting in 14, DMK in 13, and minor parties in 2 of the remaining
Himanta in the fray in Assam final phase
- Pollling underway in 40 seats in the third and final phase in Assam
- Senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, his five cabinet colleagues and BJP state unit president Ranjeet Kumar Dass in the fray

Polling for 31 seats in West Bengal
- Polling is on in 31 assembly seats in West Bengal spread across three districts -- Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas
- BJP leader Swapan Dasgupta, TMC minister Ashima Patra and CPI(M) leader Kanti Ganguly are in the fray
- Three-cornered fight between the TMC, BJP and Left Front-ISF-Congress in many of the seats
- In 2016, TMC had won all but one seat of these 31; in 2019 the BJP emerged as strong contender
- ISF of Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui is main concern for Mamata; it could cut into TMC votes in South 24 Parganas and Hooghly
Will Pinarayi Vijayan buck decades-long trend in Kerala?
- In Kerala, the main fight is between the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front and the Congress-led United Democratic Front. BJP's NDA is the third force
- Pinarayi Vijayan (Dharmadam), KK Shailaja ( Matannur), Kadakampally Surendran( Kazhakoottam), MM Mani ( Udumbanchola), KT Jaleel ( Thavannur) are the main faces in LDF
- Ramesh Chennithala ( Harippad), Oommen Chandy ( Puthupally), K Muraleedharan ( Nemam), Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan ( Kottayam) , PK Kunhalikutty ( Vengara) are the main faces in UDF
- E Sreedharan ( Palakkad), K Surendran (Manjeshwar, Konni), Kummanam Rajasekharan ( Nemam) are the main faces in the NDA
Long queues were seen in several polling stations in Kerala even before the polling began.
BJP will have an impressive show this time, there's no doubt about it. I will win from Palakkad constituency with a big margin. My entry into BJP has given a different image to the party.

Better AIADMK-DMK fight in Tamil Nadu
- AIADMK is contesting 177 seats leading a three-party alliance. Ally BJP is contesting in 20
- Opposition DMK is fielding its own nominees in 173 seats and another 14 from a partner under its symbol. Ally Congress is contesting in 25
- AMMK of Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran - a breakaway from AIADMK - is in alliance with Vijayakanth's DMDK and Owaisi's AIMIM
- Actor Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiyam is contesting on its own
