Gurgaon’s caseload nears 65,000 with 555 fresh cases

Gurgaon: The city reported 555 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, taking its tally to 64,953. This was a dip of over 9% compared to the previous day, when Gurgaon recorded 606 new cases — the highest single-day spike since November 28 last year.
According to the health department, 210 patients were discharged after recovery on Sunday. A total of 61,614 people have recovered from the infection till now. The city’s recovery rate stands at 97.8%. No Covid death was reported on Sunday and the toll stands at 367, out of which 282 patients had comorbidities.
The number of active cases in the city rose to 2,972 on Sunday from 2,627 on Saturday. A total of 2,770 patients are in home isolation, while 197 are under observation at dedicated Covid healthcare centres and five patients are under observation at the district Covid care centre.
In the last 24 hours, the health department has conducted over 6,006 tests for rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests. So far, 96,08,36 samples have been collected, of which 88,98,77 were found to be negative.
Over 1.5k get jabs on Day 4
As many as 1,544 people aged 45 years and above were administered the Covid vaccine at three session sites in the city on Sunday, the fourth day of Phase 4 of the vaccination drive. Health department officials said seven healthcare workers and frontline workers were also inoculated on Sunday, the last day of vaccinations for them.
The department is planning to hold a massive vaccination drive on Monday with a target of giving jabs to over 8,000 people at 216 session sites — 160 in government setups and 56 in private hospitals. “We are planning to hold a mega vaccination drive on Monday. So far, we have given jabs to over 2.35 lakh people since vaccinations began on January 16,” district immunisation officer Dr MP Singh said.
