British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday mentioned the UK has “significant concerns” over Russian exercise within the Crimea and on the Ukrainian border.

In a telephone name to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, Johnson “reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” his workplace mentioned in an announcement.

He expressed his solidarity with President Zelensky’s authorities “in the face of this destabilising activity and commended Ukraine’s approach to the situation,” it added, saying the UK would work to “ensure there is no further escalation.”

In a tweet after the decision Zelensky thanked Johnson for his help and mentioned the Ukraine was “not alone” and was “supported by the G7 nations,” referring to the elite membership of superior economies.

The name between the British and Ukrainian leaders follows messages of solidarity from the US and the European Union after Kiev final week accused Moscow of massing 1000’s of navy personnel on its northern and jap borders, in addition to on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014.

European Union overseas coverage chief Josep Borrell on Sunday pledged the bloc’s “unwavering” help for Kiev.

Ukraine on Monday denied reviews that its forces had killed a five-year-old baby in an assault on pro-Moscow jap separatists, after Russia mentioned it will launch an investigation.

Downing Street mentioned that Britain, which assumed the presidency of the G7 earlier this 12 months, has agreed to proceed its dedication to a coaching mission referred to as Operation Orbital, established in 2015 following Russia’s annexation of the Crimea.
