Hyderabad: Man reprints expiration date on packaged food, arrested

Hyderabad: A trader, who erased the actual expiration date of food products and reprinted new expiration dates, was arrested here by Langer Houz police on Monday. Police seized 1.5 lakh worth of products.

The detainee, Komati Laxmi Narayana, of Langer Houz, who was the owner of Jai Sri Ram agencies in Bapu Nagar, allegedly removed the expiration date from the packages of food products of Haldiram Company with a diluent.

“After removing the date, he printed new expiration dates on the products and planned to deliver them in the market,” said AR Srinivas, Joint Police Commissioner (West). Based on a tip, Langer Houz police raided the godown and seized property worth 1.5 lakh. A case was registered while Narayana was being presented and presented before the court.
